Can you briefly introduce yourself?

Hello everyone! I’m a software developer, let’s say a full stack developer in today’s terms. I have been working with 729 Solutions for almost 5 years and I have worked as a software developer since 2003. I studied Computer Science at Buenos Aires University. What I like the most is the architecture or modeling aspects of the software. I really enjoy what I do and I always say that building software to me is like playing with games and puzzles all the time.

What do you do here at 729?

Well, in the best case or scenario, the client brings us a problem or a need they have, then what I do is analyze that problem, the current state, or business logic/process and design a solution for that in terms of technology or software. In most cases, I also write the code to implement that solution. I said this is the best scenario because personally, this is what I like the most when we start from scratch, but sometimes the need could be adapting or continuing something the client already has. So the technologies and businesses/areas involved could be quite different, which makes it fun and challenging at the same time.

You like to travel and get into nature. Could you tell us about that?

I think it started like ten years ago the first time I spent about ten hours on a plane. You realize you are far away from home. Since then I try to travel as much as I can. I really enjoy knowing new places, things, cultures, or different realities. Also, I found things that get stuck in my memory best or impact me the most, are the trips related to nature and amazing views: mountains, lakes, volcanoes, salt flats, falls, seas, animals. S,o I began to pursue that, too, Not that I would reject travel to a nice city either. If you want to go to Rome or Paris I will join, too!

Where was the last place you traveled to?

Recently I spent a few days in Iguazú falls. Early this year I went to Cuba, and a little before that I went to the Chapada Diamantina National Park in Brazil. All beautiful places that I strongly recommend.

What has been your favorite adventure?

Difficult to choose one, but probably my trip to southeast Asia because I was there for more than two months, stayed in several places, enjoyed a great mix of things, cities, nature, and experiences, and I think also because it is so different than where I come from.

Do you get to get out into nature on a regular basis?

Since I live in a city (Buenos Aires) is not as often as I would want it, but I try to escape to quieter places every time I have the chance.

Where is your favorite spot to hike?

I really love the south of Argentina. I would say the places where I’ve been hiking most are El Chaltén and the surroundings of Bariloche.

You also enjoy sports. Do you like to play any particular sport or are you more of an observer?

I like to play more than observe. I play soccer every Tuesday (with other 729 Solutions mates, too). I practice some boxing and I enjoy cycling too.

Tell us about your interest in science.

Yeah, that would be my nerdy side. I’m interested and amazed by all the sciences that imply the human observation of nature and how all those brilliant people have come up with ideas and conclusions. I’m especially interested in astronomy, astrophysics, and all the things related to the universe/space.

You say you are a music lover. Is it a pastime or a hobby as well?

I would say a pastime. I’m listening to music all the time when I’m programming and I like to go to see bands.

What is your favorite music?

That would be the 70’s and 80’s rock. If you ask me for one band I would say Pink Floyd.

Do you play any instruments?

I studied music for a couple of years. I play some guitar and a little bit of percussion but just for fun, no real skills there.

Do you have any other hobbies or interests you want to share?

Would Tetris classify? Haha, I never get bored. If you want a challenge, let me know.

Do you enjoy cooking?

Yes, I would like to know more about it. I enjoy it when I planned and take the time to do it, even more, when it is shared. Assist to a cooking course is on my TODO list, I love food and eating.

What is your favorite thing to cook?

Grilled meat with wood… or that would be my favorite thing to eat. I like cooking sushi (just rolls, not too much), because is one of the few recipes I know and because it is something that you can share, too. I mean you enjoy the preparation in a group too, not just the eating.

What is your favorite restaurant in the city/town you live in if you have one? (I am always looking for recommendations, maybe I’ll visit one day lol)

Well, here in Argentina, I would recommend lots of barbecue places! There are also a lot of good restaurants for pasta and pizza.

Anything else you want to share with the world about yourself or working at 729?

Just that I’m thankful to have a job that I enjoy like a game. Regarding working at 729 Solutions, I appreciate the relaxed environment we have, and also, because of the diverse projects we have, it makes you learn new things all the time and makes it impossible to get bored.

I really enjoy what I do and I always say that building software to me is like playing with games and puzzles all the time.
