Can you start telling me a bit about yourself?

I’m 30 and I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina with my girlfriend Micaela. I’m a software engineer from the UTN (National Technology University) and I have worked in the software industry since 2006 when I was 18 years old.

What do you do here at 729?

I’m a Senior Full Stack Developer, and I’ve been working here for less than a year. In that short period of time, I’ve worked on a lot of different projects and technologies. The first project I worked on was an Android app, but then I’ve been on the front end and back end applications using C#, Java, NodeJs, React, and more.

In your bio, it says you enjoy traveling – where was the last trip you took? Do you have any future trips planned?

I love going on trips! I like to go to big cities as well as tiny towns full of nature. Every place has its own magic. My last trip was to Bariloche, in southern Argentina. It’s a great place to go with a beautiful combination of mountains and lakes for sightseeing in nature.  They also have very good food and beer! I think my next trip will finally be to New York – I’ve wanted to go there since I was a kid. Up until now, my favorite trip was to Australia with my girlfriend. We got the chance to visit Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Cairns (near the coral reef).  We experienced beautiful beaches, islands, and strange animals (like the wild Cassowary), and did a city tour by bike. We also met with some friends living there and we had a fantastic time. It’s a wonderful country, with so many things to do.

Your bio also says you scuba dive – I did that a couple of times when I was much younger. I would love to hear about how you got into it!

Scuba diving is one of the activities my girlfriend and I love doing together. The first time we did it was totally by chance: on a trip to Brazil, we had one day without any plans in particular, and this guy offered us a rundown on scuba diving. We liked the idea, ended up loving it, and wanting more. Several years later we got our Open Diver certifications, which allows you to go deeper on the water, over a longer period of time and reach harder places.

Now we try to scuba dive on every vacation we have. For example, in Australia, we took a 24-hour boat trip on the coral reef that included 6 dives. One of those was a night dive in where you could only see what you pointed your lantern at – that was amazing! Our last dive was on Bariloche on a very cold lake. It was a nice experience too, but you don’t have a lot of animals to see in a lake as you do in the open ocean. I have a huge list of places to scuba dive in the future: Thailand, Philippines, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Galápagos Islands… and I could add hundreds of places more to this list.

Talk to me about sports, do you play soccer and tennis regularly?

When I was younger, I played tennis for 5 years and joined a few competitions. Nowadays, I love watching tennis matches (I’m a big fan of Del Potro) but I don’t play very often. Sometimes I play football with friends but I’m not very good at it!

Is piano the only instrument you play?

Yes, I just play the piano. I used to take classes a couple of years ago. Now I play the keyboard at home once in a while, just to relax. I’ve never been in a band though. Speaking of music, I enjoy going to concerts. Last week I went to see a jazz/tango fusion band called “Escalandrum” that played together with an orchestra. The leader of the band is the grandchild of Astor Piazzolla, which was a very important musician from Argentina. I’ve also been to concerts of Queen, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Living Colour, Faith No More, Coldplay and Aerosmith.

Do you have any other hobbies you can share with us?

I enjoy watching TV series and movies, I go to the cinema often. I also love reading about science of every kind: astronomy, health, nature, energy, or whatever. I like to understand how things work.

Do you enjoy cooking?

Honestly, I don’t cook very often, because of the lack of time. But- I enjoy doing it when I can! Once in a while, I try to google a strange recipe to try. For example, I like cooking fish with different sauces and vegetables or potatoes.

What is your favorite restaurant in the city you live in?

That’s a very hard question because Buenos Aires has a lot of different restaurants with any kind of food could want. I usually go to simple places to eat meat, pasta or pizza and I always enjoy it. However, in the last few months, I’ve fallen in love with a place called “Brasserie Petanque” which is a French food restaurant – and it is awesome. My favorite meal there is Risotto with Black Truffle Sauce and Crème Brûlée for dessert of course.

Anything else you want to tell the world about yourself or working at 729?

Working on 729 has been great for me because I’m always learning new technologies and interacting with different people. I’m really happy to be part of this team!
